“The biggest lie told by people like me to people like you at election time is that, ‘If you vote for me, I’m going to solve all your problems.’ The truth is, the power to change this country is in your hands, not mine.”

HOWARD DEAN, Chairman, Democratic National Committee

FROM THE CHAIR | Wayne Holland

Across Utah this weekend, grassroots supporters of Barack Obama will work to put our presumptive Democratic nominee in the White House.

Hundreds of volunteers are mobilizing because they know what happens in November matters. For example, a vote for John McCain is a vote to open up Yucca Mountain in Nevada for the country's nuclear waste, and trucks and trains filled with the radioactive garbage would cut through the heart of Utah. He even mocked a question that focused on how Utahns might be concerned: "Oh, you have to travel through states ... I am for Yucca Mountain. I don't mean to be sarcastic. I apologize." – Deseret News

Check the calendar below and join our efforts to put Barack Obama in the White House and keep nuke garbage trucks off our highways.

• Obama buttons and yard signs are now available in limited supplies at Utah Democratic Party Headquarters, 455 S. 300 East, Suite 301, downtown Salt Lake City. Contact Nikki Norton (801) 328-1212 or (435) 513-2606. Also, Bill Keshlear at (801) 699-7773, bkeshlear@utdemocrats.org.

Mormons and Everyone Else in Utah for Obama (Centerville)

Come to our Obamacue! In a predominantly Republican state, many Utahns may continue to vote according to the same old party line. Some Republicans and Independents, however, are beginning to feel that something different is needed in Washington and want to join with Democrats in supporting Barack Obama's presidential campaign for change. We believe members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have compelling reasons to support Obama. Likewise, non-Mormon Utahns who support Obama can unite to make a difference in a state largely influenced by Republicans. my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/uniteforchange/4lyg
